Applying Feminist Rhetorical Theory to the Music Industry
Task:
Apply feminist rhetorical theory to an issue today.
In 2024, less than 25% of the musicians on stage at major US music festivals were women (bookmorewomen, 2025).
I used this opportunity to talk about the pitfalls of the music industry because of the significant role music has played in shaping my personal and cultural identity. Applying feminist rhetorical theory to the music industry has allowed me to critically examine these issues and explore how music can also be a space for change and empowerment, aligning with my personal experiences in advocacy and equality.

A Case Study on the Tragedy of Astroworld
Case Study
Task:
Analyze a public relations crisis of your choosing.
I chose to explore the Astroworld tragedy because it was such a high-profile crisis that really highlighted the crucial role communication plays in the music industry. As a music fan, I felt compelled to analyze how Travis Scott, the event organizers, and other key players handled the situation, especially since it underscored the urgent need for better crisis management. It served as a real-world example of why safety, transparency, and quick responses are so important, and I wanted to dive into this issue to advocate for change in an industry I care deeply about.
My Personal Code of Ethics and Navigating Ethical Dilemmas as a Senior Publicist in the Music Industry
Writing this paper allowed me to reflect on how I would navigate difficult ethical dilemmas, like managing controversies surrounding artists while promoting their work with integrity. It also reinforced my commitment to following a strong ethical code and ensuring that I uphold these values in my future career as a publicist.
