Live Music, Loud Passion
July 24, 2018
My first concert was Warped Tour, the festival that opened my eyes to the world of live music. What started as a chance to see my favorite band at the time, Mayday Parade, turned into an unforgettable experience. Surrounded by fans and energized by the raw power of live performances, I found a new community and a deep love for music that would shape my life moving forward.

Experimenting with New Genres
I decided to branch out and attend a few rap concert, eager to explore a different side of live music. While the energy was undeniable, I quickly realized that rap shows weren't my vibe. The crowd and the atmosphere felt different from what I loved about punk and alternative shows. It was a learning experience, showing me that live music is about finding the genres and experiences that truly resonate with me.

Finding Magic in Smaller Artists
In college, I was broke, but I still had this passion for live music, so I started seeking out smaller bands. Discovering smaller, up-and-coming bands became a passion, as their live shows carried an energy that couldn’t be replicated in larger spaces. These shows introduced me to hidden gems and reminded me that power of live music lies not in the size of the crowd but in the shared moments it creates.
What Live Music Means to Me Today
Live music has become so much more than a passion. It’s a cornerstone of who I am. It’s where I go to escape, to recharge, and to connect with something bigger than myself. Concerts remind me to be fully present, surrounded by people who share the same unspoken love for the music that moves us.
Over the years, my love for live music has evolved. It’s no longer just about the thrill of seeing my favorite band; it’s about discovering new artists, supporting local talent, and appreciating the effort it takes to put on a show. There’s something inspiring about watching a band pour their heart into every show, especially when you know they’ve driven through the night to play for a room of fifty people.
For me, live music is a community, a place where strangers become friends in the pit and a single song can unite thousands. It’s a constant reminder of the power of art and connection, and no matter how many shows I attend, it never loses its magic.
